Bedroom makeover

That would be my room this morning;) I decided to decorate. Since I had left to go study abroad to SCAD, my mom took off all the photos and posters .... and well made my room pretty empty looking. So it was missing some personality to it. I searched through my things in the storage room and found all types of awesome stuff like paintings I had done a while back, fabrics that I bought and also were given to me from Senegal, as well as, a cartoon of me when I was younger. I also found one of the living rooms carpet and some lights :) So here its the make over outcome! $0 money spent.
The closet now has a curtain :) I love it! its probably my favorite part! it give it a whole "arab" feel.
This fabric's pattern was made by hand I believe is done with a stamp and a rock. It is also hand dyed! I love it! It was a gift from a good friend back in Senegal.
Gave the desk area a carpet, painting, drawing, and lights :)
added some fabrics to the night table so it could go along the african look.
<3 p="p">
Yep, I feel tired :P I also helped my mom with christmas decorations today... and now its time to pamper myself and do a facial mask I got at the FACE SHOP yesterday!

Friday 30th - Inspiration

I've had a lot of time in my hands ;) which am very thankful for. It has allowed me to think about fun things, explore my "creativeness" and such. I was texting a friend and I told him I'd make a terrible copywriter, since my vocabulary in the 3 languages I speak is very standard. For some reason, I kept thinking about it ...and ... decided hey! I am sure I could write something that is close to my "heart". So I came up with "Some day, some time... I will sum up to be, the one I assumed I'd become." I often think of becoming a heroic person that gives to others and makes everyone smile. I also dream of being one of the most admired ad-women, known not for selling false imagery but instead encouraging to be the way you were created.... I know I am a little twisted, this will probably be hard at first but I am sure I will be able to accomplish it. Specially, when I own my little boutique agency. Anyways, through this quote... I wanted to demonstrate my perseverance towards my dreams and life goals (which also include traveling and photojournalism). I am so exited for what there is in my path. Ok! Sorry got carried on! :) To pair up with the "awesome" quote is a quick "self portrait" haha yeah I still can't get it to look like me.  I did this illustration off a photo I took today, simply because I did my hair :P See! I have a lot time anyways ... here it is.
As the usual I look pretty high in the photo, still can't take a normal photo :P!
Enjoy your weekend!

SPOT MESSAGES IN SPOTS

ADWEEK recently took out The 10 best commercials of 2012, and I as I was going through them I realized... advertising is not about the product no more! Its all about values and great messages. I am only putting five of them because to me they are the best. So let's start with my favorite:
Procter& Gamble - Best Job
(Agency: Wieden+Kennedy, Portland, Ore.)
Makes me tear up every time. I think its because I can connect with it, I have very supportive parents and I often think that without them I would be lost. Anyways, I know that unlike any other, this commercial sends the message of perseverance, true love, dedication, etc.

Wideroe Airlines - Granpa's Magic Trick
(Agency: McCann, Oslo, Norway)
Another amazing, playful spot, this one has different message more based on a grandparent qualities. As always, grandpapas have a little surprises that spark up our day.

The Guardian - Three Little Pigs
(Agency: BBH, London)

Of course the Cannes Gold Winner! I love the whole plot around this. Some how, yes, they are showing you the product but they are making it more about what goes on in our world day to day.  Focusing less on the actual website and more on the story.

Nike -  Jogger
(Agency: Wieden+Kennedy, Portland, Ore)

The narration to this spot is incredible, the message is clear and i am sure its something we can all relate to. I think its very interesting how we never actually see a nike tennis shoes, or logo until the very end.

Red Bull - Red Bull Stratos
(Partners: Riedel Communications, FlightLine Films)

This is is very different than the rest. I applaud the team that helped make this happen. Jumping from space had nothing to do with Red Bull really, yet everybody googled and chatted about it as the "Red Bull Stunt".  It for sure got all the attention desired.

So, for next years be prepared for commercials with amazing meanings;)

This would be my final project por CMPA, it was very fun! and without a doubt I was able to maintain the concept of my upside down world! ;) There is something about the idea of seeing things different and changing habits I just can't get over. SCAD (Fall 2012) Hands on stuff

Most of these drawings were for Drawing II with Prof. Patrick McKinnon. Left top corner is black charcoal over white paper, Right top corner is white charcoal over black paper. Under them, on the left is a paper cutout for English Composition with Dr. Neal Saye, to the right is color pencils over black paper. Then is Nu Pastels, I must admit it was my first time and I struggled alot with it. Then comes the final which is color pencil over black paper it is 1 yard high. I have to say what you are looking at is hours and hours of work, that I am very proud of! As they might not be the best of the best drawings, I without a doubt tried my best and enjoyed every bit of it.

Life at SCAD-Savannah (Fall 2012)

This is a very small part of amazing people I have met at SCAD. My experience started this fall and I hope to continue on until my graduation in 2015.  I don't know where to start to describe the greatest moments in Savannah. Well, I will start by saying the place is beautiful and antique. I live in the historic district of Savannah... just a couple of blocks away from Broughton, from there a couple more blocks to Riverstreet and if you walk the opposite way you reach Forsyth Park. I am right in the middle of it all.

As for people, like I mentioned before I have met the best of the best. I don't have photos of all those amazing human beings, however they have influenced and made my experience at SCAD simply incredible. There are also those humans that you can only find in Savannah, like the antique shop owners and well the men that you find randomly just hanging. To them I thank them, because they make me feel like there is a whole new world/culture for me to explore. Everyday I learn something new!

Patati Patata August

Pre-Ready-to-Wear Spring/ Summer 2013

Today, I saw the Pre- Ready-to-Wear Spring/Summer 2013, These are my favorite pieces until now. I divided them into different categories: Day, Evening and Night. They are from different collections: Alexander McQueen, Burberry Prorsum, Christian Dior, DSquared2, Milly, Moschino Cheap&Chic, Sass & Bide, Sachin + Babi, Sonia Rykiel, Temperley London, and Tribune Standard. I think I missed one but am not sure who :S

This is the "day" collage, I love the dress pants, collars and the colors! I love how there is not much patterns this time, I really like the cuts and styles. Very chic, elegant and sophisticated.
The evening looks have more patterns and a little like 50's look in the Christian Dior. The elegant look keeps going:D Gorgeous! I really love the collections.
The night gowns are still not out or something but there is no need! These are incredible!:)
Now I must wait for a couple of more collections!  Like Balmain's, Viktor & Rolf, Yves Saint Laurent, etc. So there will be one more post atleast! Hahaha!

Must Read - From Boston To Beirut: A Girl And Her Room

My dad sent me this link From Boston To Beirut: A Girl And Her Room
:) It happens to be he considers me a teenage girl jajaja! Jk! Through my teenagers all the way up to now, I've had to defend my room against my mom!:) By that I mean, my mom likes clean and extremely decorated... I don't mind my mess and I love putting photos all over the place:) I really like this article... makes me feel like I am not alone! jajaja There's girls all over world joining forces! :D Like I tell my mom my room  is my room, its the only space I have were it doesn't matter what I do... I am free to be!

I would just like to highlight the last paragraph of the article:
But Matar doesn't lament what seems an undeniable "Westernization" of Lebanese teens. If anything, she celebrates the fact that girls will be girls no matter where they live.
Ideally, at a certain age, we grow more comfortable with who we are, and stop projecting who we want to be on walls and graphic T-shirts. But at that age, Matar says, "girls are very vulnerable ... even when they pretend not to be. They're trying to find who they are."
I don't know if I am the only rare girl, I never posted photos of celebraties and I didn't really wear graphic tees. However, my teenage years were experimental everything my parents allowed me to do I would explore it, which is when I found my pasion for photography and my ability to create concepts for my photo shoots. The photos on my walls are photos of countries, drawings I've done and moments with my friends! My room is my life in four walls, you can probably walk in it and pin point who I am... it's very updated jajaja :)! So yes your teenage years are to get to know yourself and see what path God has for you!:)
So this is to girls and our awesome personalized rooms! :)
